A'Costas Arrecife
AT LAST SOMEWHERE TO GO IN ARRECIFE! Brand new to gaylanzarote.net
and new to the island too, this coffee shop is superb. The guys who run this
fantastic place are so welcoming it makes you remember what good service is
all about. The coffee I had was smooth and delicious and the sandwiches and
cakes were fresh, appetising and beautifully presented. One thing that totally
captured my heart were the incredible rolls, you miss out on their freshly
baked multigrain bread at your peril! It is the best I have ever had, honest!
If I counted correctly there were 15 types of hot chocolate available too!
The coffee shop itself was spotless and buzzing with
a lovely mix of people. We are preparing a
mini-site for the guys now so we will have all
their details soon but we wanted to get them
on our site as soon as we could. In the
meantime, check out our interactive map for
their location and be sure to visit them next
time you're in town, they have wi-fi as well!
Open Mon-Fri 07.30 until 21.00hrs
Sat 08.00 until 14.00hrs

Casa Siam Puerto Del Carmen
Lanzarotes' only authentic Thai restaurant. When we visited the experience was
a memorable one. Not simply because of the food, but the friendliness of the
staff and the warmth of the welcome.
The menu took us by surprise, it was varied, imaginative and above all genuine.
So many restaurants have great menus but fail when it comes to ingredients.
Not Casa Siam, who delivered on their promise of a selection of delicious
dishes that, to be honest, took our breath away. It's now a firm favourite and we
have no hesitation in recommending them to you.

Fruiteria La Villa Teguise
Paco and Graciella, perhaps the islands most lovely couple run this gorgeous
food shop in Teguise, the old capital. Specialising in organic produce, locally
sourced where possible they even grow some of their produce themselves.
From organic wine to specialist diet ingredients Paco and Graciella are well
worth a visit.
Pasta Lanzarote San Bartolome
Daniel is the master of pasta! Visit his immaculate factory in San Bartolome to
get the freshest pasta and ravioli. Sold by weight, he has a huge variety and will
even give you some of his secret recipes for delicious sauces. Such a nice guy!
....turn up the volume because we're starving! There's no doubt that a plate of freshly cooked deliciousness put in front of you can make or break a truly fantastic day. A romantic meal brings us closer together, if we're single it gives us the opportunity to socialise without that awkward 'gooseberry at the bar' feeling.
There's three things that give us pleasure when we go on holiday, the beach, a good nights sleep and food (ok, some us may have a few more but that's private). For many travellers the food is not simply a focal point to the day. It is the beginning of an evening out. An opportunity to try new ingredients, experience new flavours and to spend time with friends or loved ones.
The Spanish take their food VERY seriously and the evening meal is taken late in the evening. It's a time for socialising and, above all else, quality ingredients and service. Here we have given you an insight into the some of the best restaurants we think you will enjoy. Places that you probably wouldn't think of trying or that are a little out of the way but well worth the effort it takes to get there.
We have also listed some of our favourite food shops, so if you're self catering we can tell you where to get great bread, organic produce, delicious seafood and possibly the best handmade pasta this side of Naples!
On the island it is hard to pop into a shop and buy a ready meal, I know Nigella I know! We buy ingredients and cook! Something we forgot how to do in the UK. Probably because we were too lazy! But if you enjoy cooking, the ingredients here are fresh and the meat and fish is inexpensive and delicious. But don't worry if you're vegetarian, many restaurants provide wonderful dishes for those who are.
If somewhere isn't listed it's only because we haven't tried it ourselves as yet. More ideas will follow as time passes and if you find somewhere new, email and tell us about it! We'll give it a test drive and add it to the site if it wants to be part of the gaylanzarote.net community.
